April 2007 Newsletter

We welcome signs of Spring. I heard someone say that they had the first robin in their yard this week. Yet, the thermometer has dipped to -14 degrees Celsius again yesterday morning. Nature; filling us with confusion! The promise of warmth mixed with the chill of winter, is so like grief.

I am grateful for our little Organization that tenaciously stokes the embers of hope in the face of the ominous dimensions of grief. We constantly think about ways that we can be helpful to one another in the face of inevitable losses that arise within our life experience. I thank those of you who commiserated with me after Sharon and I came to a point where we knew that we had to have our dog, twelve and half year old Sera, ‘put down’. This is such a small loss compared to the tragic death of a son/daughter or other close family member. All are significant and challenging in various ways.
